POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Project Overview:

NAVFAC Southwest has a requirement for Base Operations Support (BOS) Maintenance and Service Contract for Naval Air Station (NAS), Fallon, Nevada.The primary objective of this contract is to provide Base Operations Support (BOS) Maintenance and Services at Naval Air Station (NAS), Fallon, Nevada, the Fallon Range Training Complex (FRTC) and all associated special areas, tenants, and remote sites, through the use of a combination of Recurring Work and Non-Recurring work. Services to be performed under the resulting contract may include the following:

  • Management and Administration
  • Air Operations
  • Housing
  • Facilities
  • Utilities
  • Base Support Vehicles and Equipment (Transportation)
  • Environmental

Position Overview:

The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) will provide safety oversight and function as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) in accordance with the Base Operations Support (BOS) Maintenance and Services contract at Naval Air Station (NAS), Fallon, Nevada.

THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD. ALUTIIQ WILL ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM INCUMBENTS CURRENTLY HOLDING THE SAME POSITION.

Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Responsible to prepare and enforce the Contractor's safety program on this contract.
  • Must meet the requirements of EM 385-1-1 Section 1 and ensure that the requirements of EM 385-1-1, OPNAVINST 5100.23, and 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project.
  • Must be on-site at all times when work is being performed to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan
  • Personnel shall speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
  • Must be on-site when the work that presents the hazards associated with their professional expertise is being performed.
  • The SSHO shall fulfill the required pre-requisite training and experiences before being hired as the SSHO under this contract.
  • Must be fully knowledgeable of all safety, environmental, and energy requirements associated with the work they perform.

This opportunity is for a POTENTIAL CONTRACT award and is contingent upon the contract being awarded. Consideration for a potential contract may require a signed letter of intent. If the contract is awarded, another position posting will be available on the Company Careers portal.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have completed five years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity in the past or three years' experience if they possess a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or safety and health degree.
  • Must have completed the OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent and maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety and health-related coursework every four years.
  • Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
