Quality & Safety Manager - Reno

ROLE DEFINITION

This position will be the business process leader for Quality and Safety at Pregis's McDonough, GA location. They will directly report to the Director of Quality & Continuous Improvement and be responsible for the site's Quality and Safety KPIs within the EverTec business unit. They will also report to the site Plant Manager and support their vision for the Plant Control System, which is the way the plant operates.

The McDonough facility is a growing facility, and this role will also support local regulatory requirements by complying with OSHA regulations and monitoring effluents for the site. This is a high visibility role that will also be involved with supporting the new product development projects that directly impacts the future of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate safety training with all newly hired employees.
  • Lead incident investigations for quality and safety, when necessary.
  • Drive and collaborate on key projects related to process improvement, quality assurance, and safety.
  • Support project management, change management, Standard Operating Procedure documentation, regulatory compliance, and leadership needs with plant operations and new product development.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and training records.
  • Must work on understanding and meeting customer needs internal and external to the business.
  • Assists with the delivery of effective EHS training to supervisors and employees.
  • Investigates and makes recommendations around safety concerns, conducts accident investigations, and safety training.
  • Deliver training material internally and externally for safety protocols, applications, processes, quality process changes, and new equipment operations.
  • Drives Safety results by completing all necessary safety training and or audits as required by OSHA and the business.
  • Take a proactive approach to Safety and Quality by supporting department initiatives.
  • Participates in the implementation of safety guidelines and related health and safety communications and educational information.
  • Participates in accident investigation and provides recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Executes quality complaint investigations, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, data collection and proposes solutions.
  • Demonstrates appropriate project management skills and use of DMAIC/Lean methodology in execution of projects.
  • Create and execute continuous improvement projects and Design of Experiments to improve quality and optimize equipment and process performance within production applications.
  • Develops documentation for new test procedures, products, and processes. Must be able to drive change across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Helps manage packaging group through training of temporary and or new employees with periodic checks of Quality Assurance protocols and retraining when required.
  • Routinely monitors production through periodic Q/C checks and evaluation of routine checks made by in house Line leads.
  • Assist in creating quality assurance plans for new products to guarantee quality from stage one.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's in engineering or similar relevant degree/experience required. At least 3 to 5 years' experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience with data and statistics preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt a plus.
  • MiniTab experience is a plus.
  • Detail oriented and organized. Must be able to manage multiple projects in cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on approach working with production team.
  • Understand and develop people. We heavily focus on employee participation.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and mechanical skills
  • Skilled in presentations and effective in facilitating meetings.
