As a Symbia Logistics Shipping and Receiving Clerk, we want a creative and dynamic individual to oversee incoming and outgoing deliveries from our Distribution Centers. Such activities may include receiving, data input, sorting, loading, and unloading, packaging, effective communication, scheduling, directing drivers, and scanning products. The right candidate will have a strong attention to detail as you will also be inspecting products for defects and reporting damages as needed. This role is innovative and exciting, as you will own all aspects of our inbound and outbound operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a go getter! Take initiative to move quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Dedicated hard worker! The shift can vary depending on the day from six to ten hours. We need someone who is flexible and knows the day is done when the job is done.
  • We will need you to be a problem solver, not just a problem finder. We encourage our teams to find solutions to problems, helping the team to grow.
  • Receive, inspect, and record shipments of products and materials to ensure product and delivery documentation align.
  • Schedules and confirms all receiving appointments, as well as directing traffic of freight handlers arriving on site.
  • Unload trucks and receive products on inbound shipments.
  • Daily dock sweeps to maintain knowledge of what is on the dock at any given time.
  • Examine deliveries, refusing product with damages. Working to figured out product that comes without PO or invoicing information before receiving it.
  • Oversee timely and smooth trailer processing. You will also help develop a KPI for this role that you will eventually own and measure.
  • Ensure all orders physically shipped are virtually closed out each day.
  • Processing PO's daily through our WMS and client proprietary systems.
  • Work with operations to ensure space is ready for incoming shipments.
  • Work to clear docks as quickly as possible to get product into inventory.
  • Report all discrepancies back to the supervisor, including questionable product that did make it through receiving. You also will report other dock activity and issues that my present themselves. This will be a regular and organized activity.
  • Cleanliness is important, so we need you to help maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment.
  • Make sure all department procedures are followed and rules and regulations are always followed.
  • If needed, support EDI transmissions.
  • Run reports as needed through our systems.
  • Provide support for our packaging and shipping teams as needed.
  • Carefully maintain shipping and receiving records including information on goods returned, returnable pallets, lot control and expiration tracking.
  • Prepare bills of lading and other tickets for shipments.
  • Experience with industrial equipment, such as forklifts and reach trucks, and maintaining your certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Personality: a dynamic, growth minded employee who is most comfortable being themselves!
  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items. Math skills are needed in this role.
  • Work experience in a warehouse setting is a plus.
  • 1-2 years of prior experience.
  • Strong working knowledge and prior experience with warehouse data systems.
  • Understanding of dock and warehouse procedures.
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in our WMS and supporting systems.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and inventory skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities may be required for this role. These abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, as well as good depth perception.
  • Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Expectation is at least two hours straight, four times in an eight-hour day.
  • You will need to be able to twist, bend, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
  • Repetitive movements are a big part of our environment, so you will need to be able to use your hands and feet simultaneously.
  • This is a warehouse environment, so it consists of occasional extreme temperature shifts ranging from very cold to very hot.
  • If you are operating Industrial Lift Equipment, you will need to be able to get on and off the equipment on a regular basis. Certain equipment may expose you to heights as well.
  • There can be exposure to loud noises and dust.
  • You will have regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moving equipment.
